What thread count is best for bedsheets?

Thread count is defined as the number of vertical and horizontal threads per square inch in a woven fabric. A bedsheet with a higher thread count is more durable than the one with a lower thread count. However, the one with the highest isn\'t always the best but does mean more money. To increase the thread count, sometimes more weaving is done to the horizontal portion of the sheet, which doesn\'t make it any better but distorts the original shape.
