Understanding the evolution of Abstract Art

Abstract art is created by mixing various shapes, curves, forms, lines and more that make a pictorial representation independent and solely dependent on the artist’s idea of art. It does not include specifics and works outside the boundaries of symmetry, specifications, and dimensions.

Background of Abstract Art

The existence of abstract art dates back to when people used symbols, texts, and calligraphies in painting pottery, vases, rocks and other products. They may or may not have a symbolic representation, but they appeal to people's eyes even if they don’t understand the meaning of it. There has been contribution through three art movements that led to the development of abstract art. They are Romanticism, Impressionism, and Expressionism.

Romanticism

In the 18th century, the movement of Romanticism took place among artists in Europe in the fields of artistic, literary, musical and intellectual people. It was a reaction towards the Industrial Revolution that emphasised intense emotions like fear, terror, horror and awe. Romanticism gave rebirth to medieval art and thoughts. In this revolution, it was believed that the contents of the art should come from the artist's imagination without the outside hindrance of rules. The originality should be maintained only if the artist’s vision is left to act solely.

Impressionism

Impressionism is the 19th-century movement where thin and fine lines and brush strokes were used to clarify the directions of light in the most ordinary subjects by changing vision angles and making the lament of light more apparent visually for human experience and perception. During the 19th century, a ray of difference was seen between the art and the artists. The artists drew more freely and independently during that time.

Expressionism

At the beginning of the 20th century, the movement of Expressionism took place in early poetry and painting. The main motive of expressionism is to express emotions away from the reality of the physical world. An artist would create a piece to invoke moods and feelings in the viewer. These three revolutions played a massive role in the development of abstract art. Today, abstract art does not coincide with the physical forms or physical world. It is solely based on the artist’s imagination and originality of thoughts, emotions and feelings. What would look like a serene painting may incur deep emotions in the mind of another viewer. That is the beauty of abstract art that the perception and interpretation of this art differ for each human being. The reflection of one’s soul and feeling goes beyond the space, which is further put onto the canvas with paints and more.

Art

People in today’s world are passionate about art and leisure. In interior design, people have started decorating their walls. In modern and contemporary houses, people adorn the walls or make a gallery wall in the lobby or their libraries, making them aesthetically pleasing and increasing the interiors' sophistication. Somebody who shares a passion and love towards art and beautiful things is known as an aesthete. An aesthete appreciates good art and has an eye for the details. Abstract art is understood and appreciated by some who like to think outside the box and believe in looking beyond space.

Art is one subject that has been struggling to make its way into people's lives. Every kid is taught how to draw and colour, but how many people support art when it comes to financial success on a serious note? People understand the importance of art till the time it is a subject, but when it comes to making a career out of it, art still needs to let each creator gain the name and fame that they deserve. Limitations have always been a part of many aspects of life; similarly, one is not blessed to enjoy art. But if you love art, then why not share this thought and promote the same so that every next kid who thinks of becoming an artist is not demotivated due to the limited opportunities?

Throughout Delhi, especially in South Delhi, you will find new upcoming artists promoting abstract art as they have created graffiti on walls in some parts of Delhi by using the technique of abstract art. This is another way of advertising art, but definitely, this cannot take place in the interiors of your household, which is why the better alternative is that you buy your favourite abstract art and get it framed in your favourite frame, wooden or other, with a variety of options and let it adorn your walls.
