Hanuman Chalisa: Understanding the Devotional Hymn and its Meaning

Hanuman's bravery, intellect, and devotion to Lord Rama are traits and deeds described in the Hanuman Chalisa. Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa with devotion and sincerity invokes Lord Hanuman's blessings and protection.

Lord Hanuman's Significance in Hindu Mythology

Hanuman is a Hindu deity well known for his part in the Ramayana, a Hindu epic. He is portrayed as a human-like monkey who is incredibly brave, strong, and devoted to Lord Rama, the main character of the Ramayana. Hanuman aids Rama in rescuing his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana in the Ramayana and is a crucial figure in the confrontation between Rama and Ravana. He is particularly well-known for his part in the Mahabharata, a Hindu epic, where he is referred to as a Chiranjeevi (immortal). Hinduism holds Hanuman in the highest regard and regards him as Lord Shiva's avatar (incarnation). He is revered as a representation of fortitude, dedication, and tenacity. He is highly venerated throughout India and other countries where Hinduism is practised, and his portrait can frequently be found in Hindu households and temples.

Sahas Badan Tumharo Jas Gaave. Asa Kahi Sripati Kanth Lagaave. Sankaadik Brahmadi Munisa. Narad Sarad Sahit Aheesa.

Lord Rama brought you to Himself and embraced you after saying this. Even the thousand-mouthed serpent sings of Your greatness with sages like Sanaka, gods like Brahma, and deities like Narada. Your praise is sung by Sanak, Sanandan, and other Rishis and revered saints, as well as by Brahma, Narada, Saraswati, the Mother of God, and the King of Serpents.

Jam Kuber Digpal Jahan Te. Kabi Kobid Kahi Sake Kahan Te. Tum Upkaar Sugreevahi Keenha. Ram Milaaye Raj-Pad Deenha.

No one, not even Yama, Kubera, the guardians of the four quadrants, poets, or intellectuals, can adequately describe Your glory. You aided Sugriva in recovering his throne by introducing Him to Lord Rama. You granted Him the kingship as a result (the dignity of being called a king).

Lord Hanuman

Tumharo Mantra Bibhishan Maana. Lankeshwar Bhaye Sab Jag Jaana. Yug Sahastra Jojan Par Bhanu. Leelyo Taahi Madhur Phal Jaanu.

Like Vibhishana, he followed Your teachings and rose to power in Lanka. You have mistaken the sun, hundreds of kilometres distant, red fruit, and you consumed it!

Without any surprise, you crossed the ocean while holding the ring Lord Rama gave you. With Your grace, all complex undertakings in this world become simple.

Ram Duaare Tum Rakhvare. Hott Na Aagya Binu Paisare. Sab Sukh Lahe Tumhari Sarna. Tum Rakshak Kahu Ko Dar Na.

The caretaker at Lord Rama's door is you. Lord Rama's darshans (to see him) are only possible with your blessings because no one can move on without your consent. Those who seek refuge in you find all the pleasures and happiness. We need not be afraid of anyone or anything when we have protection like you.

Aapan Tej Samharo Aape. Teeno Lok Haank Te Kaampe. Bhoot Pishaach Nikat Nahi Aavein. Mahaveer Jab Naam Sunaave.

Only You can endure, Your majesty. With Your shout, the three worlds begin to tremble. Mahaveer, oh! The people who remember Your name are safe from ghosts and other evil spirits. Hence, entering Your name alone accomplishes everything!

Naase Rog Hare Sab Peera. Japat Nirantar Hanumat Beera. Sankat Te Hanuman Churave. Mann Kram Vachan Dhyaan Jo Laave.

Dear Hanuman! When one says or chants your name, all illnesses and pain are cured. Thus, it is essential to repeat Your name frequently. Anybody who contemplates or worships you in speech, deed, and action is liberated from all forms of trouble and suffering.

Sab Par Ram Tapasvi Raja. Tin Ke Kaaj Sakal Tum Saaja. Aur Manorath Jo Koi Laave. Soi Amit Jivan Phal Paave.

Among all the Kings, Lord Rama is the most remarkable ascetic. But alone, You completed all of Lord Sri Rama's assignments. Anybody who approaches You with fundamental longing or a desire receives an abundance of the fruit that has been manifested and is everlasting.

Chaaron Yug Partap Tumhara. Hai Parsidh Jagat Ujiyara. Saadhu-Sant Ke Tum Rakhvare. Asur Nikandan Ram Dulaare.

All Four Ages are filled with your splendour. And everyone in the world knows about Your glory. You are: The protector of sages and saints. The exterminator of devils. The object of Lord Rama's adoration.

You have been granted a blessing by Mother Janaki, allowing you to bestow the siddhis (eight various powers) and Nidhi on deserving people (nine different kinds of wealth). You embody the spirit of Ram bhakti; may you always be Raghupati's obedient and humble servant.

Tumhare Bhajan Ram Ko Paave. Janam Janam Ke Dukh Bisraave. Antkaal Raghuvar Pur Jaayi. Jahan Janam Hari-Bhakt Kahayi.

One meets Lord Rama and receives healing from the woes of numerous lifetimes when they chant your praise and name. By your favour, one will pass on to Lord Rama's eternal home after death and continue to be loyal to Him.

Aur Devta Chitta Na Dharai. Hanumat Sei Sarva Sukh Karai. Sankat Kate, Mite Sab Peera. Jo Sumire Hanumat Balbeera.

Serving another Deity or God is not required. All comforts come from service to Lord Hanuman. When someone thinks of the mighty lord Lord Hanuman, their problems and suffering end.

Lord Hanuman

Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosain. Krupa Karahu Gurudev Ki Naai. Jo Sat Baar Paath Kar Koi. Chutahi Bandhi Maha Sukh Hoyi.

Oh, Hanuman! Glory and praise be to you, O mighty Lord; grant us your favour as our Ultimate Guru. A person who chants this chalisa 100 times is freed from all bonds and will experience enormous joy.

Jo Yeh Padhe Hanuman Chalisa, Hoye Siddhi Saakhi Gaurisa. Tulsidas Sada Hari Chera, Keeje Nath Hriday Mah Dera.

Everyone who reads and recites this Hanuman Chalisa will finish all his jobs. Lord Shiva is the actual eyewitness to it. O Lord Hanuman, May I always be a servant, a devotee to Lord Sri Ram, says Tulsidas. And may You stay in my heart forever.

Pawan Tanay Sankat Haran, Mangal Murti Roop. Ram Lakhan Sita Sahit, Hriday Basahu Sur Bhoop.

You are the destroyer of all woes, O Son of the Wind. You are the epitome of luck and success. My heart will always be home to Mother Sita, Laxmana, and Lord Rama.

One of the supreme gods in Hindu mythology is Hanuman. Hanuman Chalisa lauds Bajrang Bali's might in all its splendour and jubilation as it is spoken. In conclusion, Hanuman's strength comes from his everlasting dedication, physical prowess, mental understanding, knowledge, and spiritual prowess. Millions of people worldwide continue to be inspired by his story because he symbolises bravery, devotion, and tenacity. May Lord Hanuman bless you with strength and devotion.
